Withdrawing from Courses

You may withdraw from courses up to a certain date without academic penalty. The Department of Physical Therapy has modular courses with non-standard start/end dates. The deadlines to drop courses are stated on each course outline and in the Important Dates section.

Dropping a course may impact your progression in the program. Since you are required to progress through the program according to the curriculum dates, if you drop a course, you may be temporarily unable to progress further and may need to take a leave of absence, until the dropped course is offered next. Most courses in the MScPT program are only offered once per academic year. The EAC may also review your progression through the program and make recommendations.

Before dropping courses, consult with the Graduate Coordinator to discuss implications for progression in the program, graduation dates, tuition fees, and eligibility to complete licensing examinations.

To withdraw from a course before the drop deadline, consult with the Graduate Coordinator and submit a completed add/drop form to the SLO. To withdraw from a course after the drop deadline, consult with the Graduate Coordinator and submit a completed add/drop form with a letter of rationale and supporting documentation (e.g., a medical certificate). The Department will then forward your request to SGS for review. Dropping a course before the course drop deadline does not guarantee a refund. The refund schedule is detailed on the Student Accounts website.

Withdrawing from all courses does not constitute a withdrawal from the program. To withdraw from the program, you must complete a Program Withdrawal Form.
