Loan Programs

Loans require an application and must be repaid.

Government Student Loans

You should apply for student loans through your home province. If you are an Ontario student, apply to the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) . The approval process can be lengthy so apply as early as possible.

OSAP typically provides you with two installments: one in September and one in January. The September installment is usually applied directly towards your tuition and fees. Depending on your situation, the second installment may also be fully or partially directed towards your fees. The Ontario Student Opportunity Grant provides partial loan forgiveness on an annual basis for students who have incurred large debt loads.

Line of Credit

Many financial institutions offer students a line of credit which allows you to borrow funding (up to a limit) when needed. The interest rate on a line of credit is typically much lower than with some other types of loans or credit cards. You must pay the monthly interest on the amount of credit used (not the entire available limit). You must apply for a line of credit to be eligible to receive PMFA-PT bursary funding.

SGS Emergency Loan

SGS offers an Emergency Loan to students who are expecting to receive a payment (from employment, a major award instalment, OSAP, etc.) in the near future. For more information and to apply, visit the SGS Emergency Loan website.
