The department of physical therapy is pleased to announce the promotion of two faculty members to the rank of professor.
Brenda Mori, Professor, Continuing Teaching Stream, has been with the department since 2003 and currently serves as the Director of Clinical Education and Community Affairs and leads the clinical education curriculum for the MScPT degree program.
Mori’s research includes investigating clinical education student assessment, clinical education models of supervision, and reflection and learning portfolios.
Mori has received several awards throughout her career and was most recently awarded the Helen Saarinen Lectureship Award from McMaster University, which recognizes her dedication to the advancement of physiotherapy practitioners.
Kelly O’Brien, Professor, has been with the department since 2012 and currently serves as the Co-Director of the Rehabilitation Science Research Network for COVID.
O’Brien’s research is focused in the area of episodic disability, chronic disease and rehabilitation. Her most recent research, Conceptualising the episodic nature of disability among adults living with Long COVID: a qualitative study, aims to better understand Long COVID and its prevalence and impact.
O’Brien also has a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Episodic Disability and Rehabilitation for her research assessing the prevalence and determinants of episodic disability among people living with chronic disease and developing new rehabilitation strategies.
