It is with a heavy heart that I bring you the news of the death of a dear colleague and friend, Salman Afzaal, OIEPB Class of 2013.
We are beyond horrified by the horrendous crime that has been committed in London, Ontario, taking the lives of Salman and his family. Salman treasured his family dearly and was so proud of all their accomplishments. He worked tirelessly to ensure he and his family could realize their dreams here in Canada. Salman, a graduate of our Ontario Internationally Educated Physical Therapy Bridging Program, was an incredible asset to our profession who was passionate about his patients and strived for excellence.
The Department of Physical Therapy stands with the Muslim community in this difficult time condemning racism, Islamophobia and hate crimes; we are committed to work to eradicate such acts.
As we mourn the loss of Salman, his wife Madiha, their daughter Yumma and Salman’s mother Talat please keep in your thoughts their son Fayez who remains in the hospital in serious condition.
