Seven Physical Therapy student-athletes were recognized for their academic achievement at the 11th annual academic excellence breakfast on Tuesday, January 17 at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.
This year’s honorees are:
Kingsley Wu (Class of 2022) – Badminton
Chris Taylor (Class of 2022) – Cross Country
Emma Jianopoulos (Class of 2022) – Figure Skating
Jeremy Pullara (Class of 2023) – Hockey
Alanna Richardson (Class of 2022) – Soccer
Katie Humhej (Class of 2023) – Softball
Rachel Seguin (Class of 2023) – Softball
The ceremony honoured student-athletes, who while competing on a Varsity team, earned an 80% average or higher in all courses they were enrolled in during the 2021-22 academic year. Each recipient received a pin: enamel for first-time winners, bronze for second, silver for third, gold for fourth and a diamond pin for anyone earning this award five or more times during their intercollegiate career.
Varsity Blues figure skater and MScPT graduate Emma Jianopoulos received her double diamond pin, representing the sixth time she has achieved this result.
Varsity Blues softball player and MScPT student Katie Humhej also won a major award for Ontario Top Scholar Athlete, Woman, for her excellence both academically and athletically during the 2021-22 academic year.
