Congratulations to Eric Robitaille on receiving the Banting Award at this year’s Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research forum.
Robitaille’s research, “The effectiveness of standardized physical training programs to reduce musculoskeletal injuries in Canadian Armed Forces combat arms developmental courses,” looks at the feasibility of implementing standardized physical training into Canadian Armed Forces developmental courses and its effectiveness in reducing the burden of musculoskeletal injuries, which are the primary cause of disability among military populations.
Awarded annually, the Banting Award for military health research is sponsored by the True Patriot Love Foundation and is adjudicated by the Surgeon General of the Canadian Forces (CF). The award honours Major Sir Frederick Banting – a world renowned physician, Nobel Prize winner and researcher who discovered insulin.
The award is presented to the Canadian (civilian or military) whose research paper presented at the annual Military and Veteran Health Research Forum is deemed to be of greatest overall value to military health.
