Last week, our friends and colleagues came together to recognize the exceptional achievements of three of our faculty members. Our host for the evening, Barbara Gibson, welcomed nearly 80 guests to University of Toronto’s Hart House as we celebrated Brenda Mori, Kelly O’Brien and Sharon Switzer-McIntyre and their recent promotions and awards.
Dina Brooks, Brenda Mori’s friend, colleague and former thesis supervisor, offered her words of congratulations to Mori on her recent promotion to Professor, Continuing Teaching Stream. Department Chair Susan Jaglal read comments from Mori’s former students who applauded her dedication to teaching and acknowledged her contributions to physical therapy education in Canada and around the world.
Patty Solomon, Kelly O’Brien’s colleague and former thesis supervisor, congratulated O’Brien on her recent promotion to Professor and praised her extensive work and research on people living with HIV throughout her career. Chair Jaglal echoed these sentiments and noted “our department is fortunate to have a researcher of Kelly’s calibre.”
Cathy Evans, retired faculty, colleague and friend, addressed the crowd to congratulate Sharon Switzer-McIntyre on her recent President’s Teaching Award – the highest honour for teaching at the University of Toronto. Chair Susan Jaglal shared comments from Switzer-McIntyre's colleagues, graduate and bridging program students who remarked that “Sharon is a role model who leads by example and is constantly learning.”
Lynn Wilson, Vice Dean, Clinical and Faculty Affairs, provided remarks on behalf of Temerty Faculty of Medicine congratulating Mori, O’Brien and Switzer-McIntyre on their milestone achievements.
