It is with great excitement that we are able to announce the Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH). The proposed Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH) at the University of Toronto Scarborough will provide an inclusive hub for education and strengthen connections among healthcare providers in the region.
For the Department of Physical Therapy it means playing a major role in addressing the under-met health needs of the eastern Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including Scarborough and Durham Region by creating a distributed education hub for 40 additional physical therapy students. The opportunities for collaboration are exciting as we work with our Medicine, Nursing, Physician Assistant and Behavioural Psychology colleagues to embrace diversity and create integrated learning opportunities for our future COLLEAGUES that will reflect the communities they will practice within.
We are excited to begin this journey and work collaboratively with our physiotherapy community within the eastern Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including Scarborough and Durham Region, to plan and build this distributed learning site, which will be integrated with our downtown campus at 500 University Ave.
The official University of Toronto announcement occurred today, March 22, 2022; you can watch a recording of the event here. Information can be found on the SAMIH website and in the U of T News story.
As details become available we will ensure that you are all kept apprised.
