Topic: “Disability Politics and Social Inequality in Therapeutic Practice”

Dr. Thomas Abrams is Assistant Professor in the department of Sociology at Queen’s University at Kingston, focusing on disability and social inequality.  His research looks at childhood rehabilitation through theoretically-informed, critical qualitative methods.  Currently, he teaches disability studies, classical and contemporary sociological theory, and the sociology of health and illness.  Thomas was SSHRC Postdoctoral fellow, OISE/U of T from 2014-2016, and Killam Postdoctoral Fellow, Dalhousie University, from 2016-2018.  He completed his SSHRC-funded doctoral dissertation in Carleton’s Sociology program in 2014.
